The characteristics of the Lensed Fibers depends greatly on the applications. For laser diode and waveguide coupling applications, beam quality is paramount. The focused spot characteristics must match the waveguide characteristics as closely as possible to ensure good coupling. In contrast, fiber to photodiode coupling does not require a high quality beam. Only one has to ensure that the focused spot size is smaller than the photodetector. Thus taper fibers for photodiode applications can be offered at a much lower cost. Raysung lensed fiber technology enables high-end lenses to be manufactured in volume at low costs.

The end of optical fiber
systems has a large impact on system performance. The increase of the coupling efficiency between light sources for many applications in communication,medical technology fibers and detectors, the adaptation of the radiation characteristics of endoscopic instruments as well as the improvement of the properties of fiber optical sensors are results of the integration of micro optics. The combination of external optical components on the fiber tip or directly in front of the fiber exit needs high alignment accuracy and small mounting tolerances. A promising alternative is the manufacturing of micro lenses directly onto the fiber ending. The reduction of the number of optical interfaces reduces optical losses and eases alignment of the system. Adhesion problems caused by thermal or mechanical stress are eliminated.
Lensed fiber is one of the core components indirect coupling structured opto-electrial fiber pigtail devices. Raysung is capable of designing optimum lensed fiber for tailored customer needs. How does Lensed fibers work?
Shaped/Lensed fibers work by focusing the light to improve the mode matching between a waveguide and the fiber. Normally we try to get a lensed that produces a Gaussian beam. Ideally the Lensed fibers should be made to precisely match the laser diode or waveguide characteristics. Raysung prepare to supply as much information as possible to help develop the ideal lenses.
