Description
The SFF-8643 8i is a 72-pin high-density MINI SAS connector with a plastic body interface typically used for internal connections, primarily used to implement HD SAS internal interconnect solutions. Typical applications are internal SAS links between SAS HBAs and SAS drive subsystems. The SFF-8643 is compliant with the SAS 3.0 specification and supports 12Gbps data transfer protocol.
The SFF-8639, or U.2, is a 68-pin drive interface connector for connecting Multilink SAS drives or PCIe drives (including hard disk drives, SSD drives, etc.). High speed, low latency and low power consumption, it supports the NVMe standard protocol, and it travels the PCI-E 3.0 x4 lane, with a theoretical transfer speed of up to 32 Gbps. Meanwhile, the U.2 not only supports the SATA-Express specification, but is also compatible with SAS, SATA, and other specifications.
