R290 (Propane) is refrigerant grade propane, used as an alternative to R22 and R502 in low, medium and high temperature refrigeration and air conditioning applications. R290 (Propane) is a Hydrocarbon and although highly flammable it is an efficient refrigerant that has a low Global Warming Potential (GWP).

Refrigerant R290, also know as propane, flammable and explosive. Is a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant that can be obtained directly from liquefied gas. Compared with Freon this synthetic refrigerant, natural refrigerant R290 molecules do not contain chlorine atoms, so ODP value is zero, the ozone layer does not have a damaging effect. In addition, the GWP value of R290 is close to zero, which has no effect on the greenhouse effect, compared with the same HFC substance that does not destroy the ozone layer.
