Gelling Agent A   DESCRIPTION Gelling Agent A is a proprietary aluminum chelate complex designed as a gelling agent for lithographic printing ink vehicles. It is provided as a convenient solution in high boiling ink oil solvent.   PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Appearance             Light Yellow Mobile Liquid Specific Gravity          0.981 Aluminum Content        5.2±0.2% Flash Point (PMCC)       >61°C   USE INFORMATION AO-6 is a very strong gallant in lithographic vehicle system. Although very high viscosity can be achieved at a low aluminum content, the rate of reactivity is slow enough to allow addition to many varnish at high temperatures. Because of this slow reactivity,AO-6 can be added directly to most hot varnish formulations without predilution in solvents,giving the varnish maker more control over the gellation step.     AO-6 is a very stable under high temperature cooking condition ,and would be the gallant of choice for varnish cooked for several hours above 160°C.Optimum temperature appears to be about 180°C, where the peak viscosity can be achieved in about 30 to 40 minutes.
