Alloy 2 have the highest strength and hardness in all of the low aluminum zinc alloys. It contains 3% copper and has good wear properties, and may eliminate bushings and wear inserts in die-casting designs. Alloy 2 can be used at gravity cast, such as metal.
Over 70% of all zinc die-castings are made from Alloy 3 for its excellent balance of desirable physical and mechanical properties, superb cast ability and long-term dimensional stability, Alloy 3 also offers excellent finishing characteristics for electroplating, painting and chromate treatments, and usually used in car assembly, decorations, tableware etc.
Alloy 4 was developed in Asia. The content of copper is between Alloy 3 & Alloy 5. Alloy 4 has been found to deduce the effects of die soldering that occurs in some castings than Alloy 3, but still retains similar ductility with Alloy 3.
