Every 60 seconds a child dies from malaria - a disease spread by mosquito bites. Malaria is caused by Plasmodium, which is transmitted via the bites of infected mosquito. In the human body the parasites multiply in the liver infect red blood cells.

Every year estimated 219 million people are infected with malaria, which approximately 600, 000 deaths mostly children even under the age of five. If combined with HIV/AIDS, malaria is even more deadly for pregnant women and children.

Malaria is only transmitted by infected female mosquito of the genus Anopheles. Most female Anopheles mosquito only bite at night. Purchasing a mosquito net, save a life.
