It is light-yellow or yellowish brown transparent and volatile liquid with a slight aromatic odour, b. P. 74(1mmHg), d420 1.42. The solubility in water is 1%, it is soluble in most organic solvents; Easily hydrolyzes in alkaline solutions; Corrosive to iron or soft steel.
Toxicity: Acute oral LD50 to rats is 56-108 mg/kg, acute dermal LD50 to rats is 75-210 mg/kg.
