Optical Prisms are used to redirect light at a designated angle, and its design determines how light interact with it. When light enters an Optical Prism, it either reflects off an individual surface or several surfaces before exiting, or is refracted as it travels through the substrate. Bena offers various professional optical prisms including penta prisms, wedge prisms, roof prisms, dove prisms, rectangular prisms and special shaped optical prisms.
A penta prism is a five-sided reflecting prism used to deviate a beam of light by a constant 90°, even if the entry beam is not at 90° to the prism. The beam reflects inside the prism twice, allowing the transmission of an image through a right angle without inverting it (that is, without changing the image's handedness) as an ordinary right-angle prism or mirror would. Bena penta prisms are available in N-BK7 or UV Fused Silica Substrates. N-BK7 Penta Prisms, which are ideal for applications in the visible spectrum, are offered in a range of sizes or anti-reflection coating options, including MgF2 or VIS 0°. UV Fused Silica Penta Prisms are offered uncoated or with a UV-AR anti-reflection coating. UV Fused Silica Penta Prisms are ideal for applications in the Ultraviolet (UV), Visible, or Near-Infrared (NIR).
