Product description
What is melt blown polypropylene fabric?
Polypropylene is abbreviated as PP. PP fibers obtained by polymerization of isotactic polypropylene of propylene, which is a thermoplastic resin, are used as non woven fabric raw material for spinning from synthetic fibers. Many everyday products are made of polypropylene plastic, such as transparent disposable lunch boxes, microwave containers, certain sports cups, etc.
Melt spraying ( melt blow molding ) is a nonwoven process through polymer extrusion. This is a filter material developed by the U.S. Navy in 1954 to collect radioactive particles from nuclear tests. Then around 1965, Exxon, 3M and other companies produced the first generation of melt spray nonwoven equipment.
The melt blown material is made by hot melting of its own fibers, and the thickness of the non woven fabric produced by the melt blown method is thicker. The randomness of the fibers and the cross between the interlayers are arranged to form a multi - curved channel data structure of the melt blown material. Particulate matter ( the new coronavirus passes through aerosol ) will be retained by collision with other fibers.
The filtration mechanism of medical masks is Brownian diffusion, interception, inertial collision, gravitational sedimentation and electrostatic adsorption. The first four are physical factors, that is, the nonwoven fabric produced by the meltblown method naturally has the characteristics of about 35 % filtration. This does not meet the requirements for medical masks. We need to polarize the material to charge the fibers to electrostatically capture Covid- 19 in aerosols.
It is a meltblown nonwoven fabric prepared by means of a melt blown method. Polypropylene is a learning material, and meltblown cloth is a type of non woven fabric roll, which is obviously not equivalent. In fact, there is a certain relationship between the two. Currently, about 70 % to 80 % of nonwoven fabrics on the market are made of polypropylene. Ordinary masks are made of polypropylene. However, if the mask is made of polypropylene, there is not necessarily a meltblown layer.
