[Pharmacological Action]

Pharmacology

Florfenicol belongs to Amide alcohol broad-spectrum antibiotics, and is a kind of Bacteriostatic. Through combination with bacterial ribosomal 50S subunit, it plays a role by controling bacteria protein synthesis. And it has high antibacterial activity against many Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. And Pasteurella hemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Swine actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae are highly sensitive to Florfenicol. In vitro Florfenicol, like Thiamphenicol, has similar or stronger antibacterial activity against many microorganism. Due to Acetylation effect, some bacteria, such as E.coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, etc, that has drug resistance effect towards Amido alcohols antibiotics are still sensitive to Florfenicol.

It is mainly used for the bacterial diseases of pigs, chickens and fish caused by sensitive bacteria, such as the respiratory diseases of cattle and pigs caused by Pasteurella hemolyticum, Pasteurella multocida and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. Typhoid and paratyphoid caused by Salmonella, chicken cholera, chicken dysentery, Escherichia coli, etc.; fish bacterial septicemia caused by pasteurella, vibrio, staphylococcus aureus, hydromonas, enteritis bacteria, Enteritis, erythroderma, etc.

Pharmacokinetics

The oral absorption of florfenicol is rapid, and the therapeutic concentration can be reached in the blood after about 1 hour, and the peak plasma concentration can be reached in 1 to 3 hours. The bioavailability is over 80%. Florfenicol is widely distributed in animals and can penetrate the blood-brain barrier. It is mainly excreted from urine in its original form, and a small amount is excreted with feces.

[Pharmacological interaction]

(1) Macrolides and Lincosamide has same target as this product, and they all combine with bacterial ribosomal 50S subunit, if used together it might cause Antagonism.

(2) It might play antagonism on bactericidal activity with Penicillins or Aminoglycosides, however it has not been proved in animals.

[Effect and function]

Amido alcohol antibiotics, and mainly used on bacterial disease caused by Pasteurella and E.coli.

[Usage and dosage]

Calculated based on this product.

Mixed in feedstuff:

Oral taken: every 1kg feed, 0.1~0.15g for pig and chicken, twice a day, and continuous use for 3~5 days; 50~75mg for fish, once a day, continuous use for 3~5 days.

[Side effect]

(1) If used above recommended dosage, it might has certain immunosuppressive effect

(2) Embryotoxic, use with caution on pregnancy and lactation livestock.

[Notice]

(1) Forbidden to use on egg chicken during egg producing period.

(2) Forbidden to use on animals of vaccination period or animals with severely impaired immune function.

(3) The livestock of renal insufficiency shall reduce or extend drug feeding interval.
