Product description

INTRODUCTION
Phytic acid is the major storage form of phosphorus in cereals, legumes and oilseeds. It serves several physiological functions and also significantly influences the functional and nutritional properties of cereals, legumes and oilseed (and food and feed derived thereof) by forming complexes with proteins and minerals. The salts of phytic acid are described as phytates. More accurately, phytate is a mixed potassium-, magnesium- and calcium salt of phytic acid that is present as a chelate in cereals, legumes and oilseed.
Adding phytase to animal feeds makes grain phosphorus more available to animals, thereby reducing the amount of supplemental phosphorus needed for optimum animal performance.   DESCRIPTION
SUKAPhy is a phytase enzyme preparation obtained from the submerged fermentation of a high phytase-producing microbial strain. It is widely used as a feed additive for poultry (broilers and layers) and swine diets.   WORKING MECHANISM
Phytase enzymes produced by bacteria or fungi can cleave inorganic phosphorus from the phytate molecule to increase the amount of bioavailable phosphorus in feed grains. By increasing grain phosphorus bioavailability, the amount of supplemental mineral phosphorus needed to balance the feed ration is reduced. Likewise, the amount of phosphorus released to the environment through fecal matter as unutilized phosphorus is also reduced.

PROPERTIES
SUKAPhy provides maximal benefit at pH 4.8-5.2 and at the temperature of 55-60 (131-140°F).

SPECIFICATION
SUKAPhy is available in powder preparation as
SUKAPhy PW 5 (with enzyme activity of 5,000 Ug)

Unit definition The amount of enzyme needed to produce 1 umole phosphorus from phytic acid in one minute at specified conditions.

APPLICATION GUIDE
For use as a feed additive, SUKAPhy can be added to the mix at a rate of 0.05-0.1%.

PACKAGING
SUKAPhy is packaged in 25 kgplastic drum.
Alternative packaging is available upon request for smaller or larger volumes.

STORAGE
Store in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. SUKAPhy maintains its activity for considerably longer time when stored at lower temperatures (below 25°C). The product should not be frozen.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
SUKAPhy is non-toxic and biodegradable. However, unnecessary contact with the product should be avoided. Long term exposure to protein based products such as SUKAPhy may sensitize certain individuals to the product. Wash hands with warm soapy water after handling. Keep out of reach of children.
