Product description
The main function of the microscope cover slip is to hold solid samples flat and liquid samples are formed into a flat layer of uniform thickness. This is necessary because the focal point of a high-resolution microscope is very narrow. microscope cover glass often have several other functions as well. Microscope Cover holds the sample in place (by the weight of the coverslip, or in the case of a wet mount, by surface tension) and protects the sample from dust and accidental contact. It protects the microscope objective from contact with the sample and vice versa; in oil immersion microscopes or water immersion microscopes, the cover slide prevents contact between the immersion liquid and the sample. Coverslips can be attached to the slide to seal the sample and retard dehydration and oxidation of the specimen. Microorganisms and cell cultures can be grown directly on coverslips before being placed on slides, and samples can be permanently mounted on slides instead of slides.
