(1) Film formation

PVA is easy to form a film, and its mechanical properties are excellent. The tensile strength of the film increases with the increase of polymerization degree and alcoholysis degree.

(2) adhesion

PVA has good adhesion with hydrophilic cellulose. In general, the higher the degree of polymerization and alcoholysis, the stronger the bonding strength.

(3) Thermal stability

When the powder of polyvinyl alcohol  was heated to about 100℃, its appearance gradually changed. Partial alcohololysis of PVA begins to melt at about 190℃, and decomposition occurs at 200℃. The PVA of complete alcoholysis begins to melt at about 230℃ and decompose at 240℃. The pyrolysis experiments show that the lower the degree of polymerization, the faster the weight reduction; The higher the alcoholysis degree, the shorter the decomposition time
