Description of TiO2 Rutile Sand 95%:

Rutile is one of the main minerals containing titanium. The tetragonal crystal system often has intact tetragonal columnar or needle shaped crystals, and aggregates appear in granular or dense block shapes. Dark red, brownish red, yellow or orange, with iron rich individuals appearing black; Stripes yellow to light brown. Diamond luster, iron rutile semi metallic luster. Brittle in nature, with a hardness of 6-6.5 and a density of 4.2-4.3g/cm3. Those rich in iron, niobium, and tantalum have an increased density, with higher densities reaching over 5.5g/cm3. Soluble in hot phosphoric acid, adding sodium peroxide after cooling and dilution can make the solution turn yellow brown (reaction of titanium). Rutile can occur in gneiss, pegmatite, eclogite (diorite) rocks and placers.
