Hydrofluoric acid aqueous solution of hydrogen fluoride gas, clear, colorless, fuming corrosive liquid, with intense excitant odour. - 83.3 ℃, melting point, boiling point 19.4 ℃, the density of 0.988 g/cm after. Soluble in water, ethanol, slightly soluble in ether. Because hydrogen atoms and the ability to combine between fluorine atoms are relatively strong, makes the hydrofluoric acid in the water can't completely ionization, so in theory the low concentration of hydrofluoric acid is a weak acid. Has strong corrosive, can strongly corrosive action on metals, glass and object containing silicon. Toxic, such as inhalation of vapors or contact with skin can cause burns is difficult to cure. Fluorite (calcium fluoride) is commonly used in laboratory and concentrated sulfuric acid making, need sealed in plastic bottles, and save in the shade.
