Ammonium Persulfate Applications:
The most important application for APS is in the water-based emulsion polymerisation of organic monomers in aqueous systems. The monomers are either sufficiently soluble in water and precipitate during polymerisation or polymerisation takes place in an aqueous emulsion of the monomers, as with styrene-butadiene and Acrylonitrile.
Polymerization: latex or acrylic monomer polymerization solution, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride and other products of the initiator, but also styrene, propylene, butadiene and other milk copolymerization initiation initiator.
Metal treatment: metal surface treatment (eg in semiconductor manufacturing: cleaning and etching of printed circuits), activation of copper and aluminum surfaces.
Cosmetics: The main ingredient in bleach recipes
Textiles: Desizing agents and bleaches are especially low temperature bleaching.
Others: Chemical synthesis
Water purification
Exhaust gas treatment, oxidative degradation of hazardous substances (eg mercury)
Disinfectant
Paper (low temperature bleaching especially in pulping)
Mixed doubly soil superplasticizer
A breaker used in oil well fracturing fluids in oil extraction
Ammonium Persulfate Storage:
Strong Oxidizer, Moisture Sensitive, Keep container tightly closed. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Separate from acids, alkalies, reducing agents and combustibles. See NFPA 43A, Code for the Storage of Liquid and Solid Oxidizers. Do not store above 23°C (73.4°F).
