The Grain Size Selection of Vitrified CBN grinding wheel


The grain size is usually decided according to the requirements of the work-piece's surface roughness and processing efficiency. Furthermore, the affect of bond force and grinding mode(e.g. surface grinding , end grinding, cylindrical grinding, internal grinding etc.) should also be taken into account.


The relations between the grain size and the surface roughness of work-pieces are shown in the following table

The requirements to the grinding machine


The requirements of the vitrified CBN grinding wheel to the grinding machine is very high. The grinding machine should posses high stiffnes, perfect aseismatic performance and thermal stability. And its principle axis should posses high accuracy , high rotating speed, axial displacement less than 3 μm and radial runout less than 5 μm . The feeding amount should be even and accurate, and the minium feeding amount less than 2 μm /time.
