About UTI (Urinary Tract Infection)
Urinary tract infections typically occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply in the bladder .Although the urinary system is ddesigned to keep out such microscopic invaders, these defenses sometimes fail. When that happens, bacteria may take hold and grow into a full-blown infection in hte urinary tract .
Risk Factors
Urinary tract infection are common in women , and many women experience more than one infection during their lifetimes.
Risk Factors specific to women for UTIS INCLUDE:
1.Female anatomt:A women has a shorter urethra than a man dose , which shortens the distance that bacteria must travel to reach the bladder.
2.Sexual activity:SExually active women tend to have more UTIS than do women aren't sexually active.
Having a new sexual partner also increase your risk.
3.Certain types of birth control:Women who use diaphragms for birth control may be at higher risk,as well as women who use spermicidal agents.
4.Menopause:After menopause ,a decline in circulating estrogen causes changes in the urinary tract that make you more vulnerable to infection.

FAQ
1.When is the best time to test?
A morning urine sample is the best for testing . Assuming you have slept for at least four hours without urinating and that the bacteria has had sufficient time to complete the conversion and provide a rich sample for testing since bacteriarequires time to convert nitrates to nitrites.
2.Can thes strips screen for aYeast INfection?
No.These strips deal with the urine and infections within the urinary tract system.Yeast infections do not show in the urine.
3.Can taking Vitamin C supplements interfere with parameters of the UTI Test?
Vitamin C supplements contain ascorbic acid. The ascorbic acid can interfere with chemical reaction and cause false negatives for various parameters of the UTI test .It is recommended to refrain from taking Vitamin C supplements atleast one day in advance before testing to avoid false negative result
4.None of the parameters changed color , is that considered an invalid test?
Not necessarily. Each parameters has a control (start color) and normal (result color) parameters.
Most parameters that are close to the control would be within a normal range.
5.When can a spotty result occur?
This happens when the urine sample test most likely was contained. We recommend testing again, making sure the sample is clean and free of soap, menses or other contaminants.
6.Why is there more than one possible color for a positive test result?
Each person's body chemistry is unique and will create a different shade of color on the test pads.
7.How long do I have to read the results?
Nitrites takes 60 seconds to get results and can be read up to 4 minutes after the start time of testing. The test time is listed on the bottle below each parameter for reference.
