Before attaching any oxygen regulator to a supply valve, be sure that regulator inlet connection,inlet filter,valve outlet,and all other connections are clean and free of oil,grease,or other contaminants.Prior to opening the oxygen cylinder valve,ensure that the regulator pressure adjusting screw is backed out.Do not handle oxygen regulators with oily hands and never apply oil to any part of an oxygen regulator.

Pressure should be measured at the torch inlet with gases flowing in order to verify that sufficient gas flow is available for safe,efficient cutting operation.Pressure gauges can be attached to the torch handle to measure oxygen and fuel gas pressure.Measurements should be made with the torch lit and gases flowing.
