According to estimates, today around half of the world's population are infected with Helicobacter pylori, although not every infection produces symptoms. The bacterium Helicobacter pylori ("H. pylori") causes conditions such as gastritis and stomach ulcers.There is as yet no immunisation available against the infection, which occurs in both children and adults. The stomach lining and duodenum are both protected against stomach acid by a protective coating. What is the difference between C13 and C14?
The primary difference is the radioactivity. C13 is a kind of stable isotope without radioactivity ,therefore C13 breath test can be done on all kinds people including pregnant women.But C14 is radioactive.Although the dosage for C14UBT is extremely small, pregnant woman is not suggested to take such test. But the cost for 13CUBT is much higher than C14, the operation for C14 is even easier.
