BD Test Package sales
BD test package, developed by JHBowie and J.Dick, Royal Hospital of Edinburgh, UK, for testing the effectiveness of sterilization of ventilated objects by high-pressure vacuum-type sterilization devices. BD test package american Medical Device Association (AAMI), which is also used as a standard method for confirming the operation of the sterilization apparatus. The test tells that the test card is placed in the center of the towel pack as a test pack, and it is placed in a predetermined position of the sterilization apparatus at 134 degrees Celsius/3.5. After a minute sterilization cycle, the test kit is removed and the performance of the sterilization device is determined based on the color change of the test card. When the vacuum pump malfunctions, sterilization cycle, incomplete control, and leakage in the sterilization chamber occur, the color of the test card is not uniform, so that the abnormality of the sterilization device can be easily found.
It is a diagnostic test for a sterilizer vacuum system. In particular, this test can assess an insufficient vacuum condition, meaning that air from the sterilizer cabinet is not completely removed or air leaks from the seal gasket of the door remain in the sterilizer cabinet. This residual air prevents the steam from penetrating the contents of the sterilizer cabinet during the steam exposure phase of the sterilization process. This diagnostic test uses an autoclave tape to form a St. Andrews cross on a piece of paper. These sterilization indicator tapes are coated with chemical indicator lines. The paper is placed in the middle of a linen interwoven fabric with 29 to 36 folded layers. The wrapped test kit was placed on the vent of the sterilizer of the empty cabinet for a sterilization process at 134° C. for 3.5 minutes. Remove the paper containing the sterilization indicator tape from the test pack and observe the uniform color change of the indicator line in the tape. A non-uniform or shallow indicator line appears in the center of the paper (where the tape crosses each other) indicating that the penetration of steam into the center of the test pack is blocked. This non-uniformly consistent indicator indicates that steam cannot reach the center of the test pack due to the presence of residual air in the sterilizer cabinet.
