Shaft Nuts, or Slotted Round Nuts are round heavy-duty nuts with external slotted lobes designed to locate bearings on shafts. Similar in appearance to a conduit lock nut, but much heavier duty. The slotted lobes are usually used as an aid to tightening and they may have a locking feature.
The Slotted Round Nut is used across a number of applications including electrical engineering.
They can be tightened by means of a slotted screwdriver and are intended to be used for locking components where no specific pre-stressing forces are required.Slotted round nuts are generally made from steel, stainless steel or other non-ferrous metals. Non-ferrous metals do not contain iron and are not magnetic. They are also generally more resistant to corrosion.
