2-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid CAS number is 1975-50-4, which is an important methoxyfenozide intermediate for the preparation of a novel highly effective and low toxicity dihydrazide insecticide,now it is currently in short supply on the market. The existing 2-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid is oxidized by 3-Nitro-o-xylene through dilute nitric acid, and the autoclave is used for high-pressure reaction, which is dangerous, and the wastewater containing nitric acid is highly polluted. The by- product 2-methyl-6-nitrobenzoic acid, 3-nitrophthalic acid is more, the yield can only be 27%, because this method is dangerous and polluted, resulting in the company can not produce normally.
Now there is a new preparation method which can effectively overcome the above disadvantages. The general steps are as follows: 3-nitro-o-xylene, an organic solvent and a catalyst are added to the reactor, and oxygen oxidation is carried out, and the oxidation temperature is 90-100℃. When the concentration of 3-nitro-o-xylene in the reactor is less than 1% as the reaction end point, the crude product is cooled and filtered, and the mother liquid is recycled to use. The crude product is obtained by a conventional alkalization method, activated carbon decolorization and acidification method to obtain a 2-methyl-3-nitrobenzoic acid CAS number 1975-50-4.
